Eureka Math Curriculum

On Friday, Woodward hosted a Principal Coffee focused on our Eureka Math² curriculum. Kathy Lizotte, District Mathematics Coordinator (K–5), and Kelly Schweppenhauser, K–5 Math Specialist, led an engaging presentation for parents highlighting the key components of the program. They discussed how lessons are structured to promote deep mathematical understanding, problem-solving, and reasoning skills, and shared examples of how students are learning to explain their thinking and approach challenges with confidence.

Families also had the opportunity to observe a typical math lesson and ask questions about how they can best support their child’s learning at home. We are grateful to Kathy and Kelly for sharing their expertise and to the parents who joined us for this informative and collaborative session.  A special thank you to our SOS for providing refreshments.

October 31st Spirit Day

On Friday, October 31st, students are welcome to wear fall colors, comfortable clothes (such as pajamas or onesies), Woodward spirit wear, or Halloween costumes to school. Please note that students will remain in their chosen outfits throughout the entire day, as changing clothes during school hours will not be permitted. All attire should allow for easy bathroom use and full participation in gym, lunch, recess, and specials.

For those choosing to wear Halloween costumes, please ensure they are not disruptive to student learning and do not include toy weapons (e.g., guns, knives, swords, etc.). We also ask that costumes avoid any scary or gory accessories, full masks, or face paint.

We understand that not all families celebrate Halloween, and we respect those preferences. Participation in costume-wearing is completely optional.
