The Book Vending Machine is Ready for Students
We’re excited to introduce a new Book Vending Machine at Woodward, generously purchased by the SOS with the support of an anonymous donation. This wonderful addition to our school is designed to benefit all students by encouraging a love of reading and celebrating literacy. The machine has been filled with a variety of high-interest books for all reading abilities, thoughtfully selected and supplied by the SOS, with the goal of putting brand-new books into the hands of our young readers. We’re grateful for this investment in our students’ growth and can’t wait to see the joy it brings to our school community for years to come!
On behalf of the entire Woodward School, Thank You!

Walking School Bus
Today, Woodward School proudly kicked off the return of our Walking School Bus program in collaboration with Safe Routes to School, a statewide initiative from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation. We had a fantastic turnout of students, families, and staff who joined us for this fun and healthy way to start the day. The Walking School Bus supports several important goals, including promoting physical activity, building community, and offering a positive social experience for everyone involved. The program will continue weekly (every Friday) through June 13, and we look forward to seeing even more participants in the weeks to come!

Creating a Culture of Belonging
Continuing with our theme of respect, our second graders recently participated in a lesson focused on respecting our bodies and taking care of our health. As part of this lesson, students explored the five food groups and learned about the importance of making healthy eating choices as they grow. They watched an engaging video that explained each food group, the types of foods that belong in each, and how much of each group they should aim to eat daily. Afterward, students completed a hands-on food sorting activity, placing different foods into their correct categories. Ask your child what they learned—do they know how much of each food group they should be eating? Are they getting enough? What new foods could they try to help them stay strong and healthy?

This week in enrichment, our third graders read What If Everyone Did That? by Ellen Javernick—a story that encourages children to reflect on the impact of their actions. The book highlights how individual behaviors, whether positive or negative, can add up to create a much larger effect on the world around us. For instance, one person littering may not seem like a big deal, but what if everyone did that? The result would be a messy, unsafe environment. Conversely, the story also explores the power of collective respect—what if everyone treated people, places, and things with kindness and care? What kind of world would that create? Ask your child what they took away from the story. What do they think would happen if everyone made thoughtful, respectful choices? |

Southborough - K-8 - Bus Registration
May 16, 2025
Dear 2025-2026 Southboro Families,
As we prepare for the 2025-2026 school year, we are working to finalize the Southboro bus routes. To assist with this, we kindly request all Southboro students (grades K-8) to complete the 2025-2026 Bus Registration Form. Collecting this information annually ensures we maintain up-to-date ridership data and optimize our transportation services.
We recognize that Southboro students rely on multiple forms of transportation and engage in various extracurricular activities, making bus ridership a dynamic element of our planning. The registration form allows families to indicate their child’s primary mode of transportation—whether by bus, car, or walking. Should your child’s transportation needs change during the year, the form can be updated to reflect those adjustments.
Please submit the completed form by June 6, 2025. Your timely response will help us streamline bus routes and provide efficient service for all Southboro students.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
2025-2026 Southboro Bus Registration Form
Sincerely,
Keith Lavoie
Assistant Superintendent of Operations

Vascular Birthmark Awareness Day – was May 15
On May 15th, we recognized Vascular Birthmark Awareness Day, a day to celebrate the uniqueness and strength of those with vascular birthmarks. In honor of the occasion, Woodward community members joined the celebration by drawing a red heart or wearing a heart sticker on their faces to show love and support for those with birthmarks. It was a small gesture to help spread awareness and celebrate what makes each of us special.
